Key Initiatives
Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) revised the National Curriculum Standards to include content on SDGs from fiscal 2020. This will enrich the syllabus taught in schools and undoubtedly increase awareness among children of social issues such as the environment and inclusive society (diversity). The TOMY Group offers various educational support for children as the drivers of the future.
School Visits
The TOMY Group conducts elementary school visits during which our employees use toys as educational tools to teach children about the environment, the building of an inclusive society and other themes. As a reward for completing such course, we present each child with a certificate or an eco-activity report in the form of an Eco karuta card (In Japanese). In fiscal 2020, we began offering a lesson program using the Game of Life as part of MEXT’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) program.
FamilyApps
TOMY IBIS operates FamilyApps to provide children, our future leaders, with a venue to experience their dreams. This work experience app enables children to have fun and learn at the same time when virtually experiencing typical work tasks at various cooperating companies. The app is designed to give children a taste of real society that expands their world and sets them thinking about their future dreams.
TOMY Head Office Tour
We conduct visiting lessons and offer company tours because we would like to help educate future generations. Participants on our 90-minute company tours get to visit the exhibition of TOMY history and vintage toys, and learn about our toy-manufacturing processes and Eco Toys. TOMY employees guide the tour so that visitors actually enjoy learning more about us, and answer a whole range of questions in the Q&A session.
